What goes on here?

At Under 1 Roof we regularly run various courses, sessions and activities covering a wide variety of subjects and interests. You will need to become a member to take part in any activities, but once you’ve joined all sessions are open to any member. To become a member just come and have a look around, meet the team and, provided you fall within our criteria, we’ll sign you up. Those activities indicated by a (B) need to be booked in advance, all others are drop-in sessions.

The Tenancy Programme

A course preparing you to take on a tenancy. Covering rights and responsibilities, budgeting, maintenance, self care, problem solving and much more. The course is accredited to NOCN (the Open College Network) and the Chartered Institute of Housing.
4 Weeks – Mondays & Thursdays 10.30am-4.30pm.

Make-Up Your Mind

A programme incorporating principles of developing a healthy lifestyle and allowing people to gain a greater awareness of how they operate and respond to the world around them.
10 Weeks – Thursdays 11am-12.30pm.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

A course featuring a mixture of meditation techniques, breathing exercises, discussion and teaching to help you develop new and healthy ways to approach your emotions.
8 Weeks – Thursdays 1.30pm-3.30pm.

Joy of Food (B)

A course to help you improve your cooking confidence and learn about nutrition. All ingredients and equipment are provided, and of course you get to eat what you cook! A recipe book is given out on completion of the course.
4 Weeks – Fridays 11am-2pm.

If you’re looking to express yourself, or just be creative in a relaxed, friendly environment, these are the sessions for you. All levels and abilities welcome.

 


Creative Writing

Everyone’s got a story to tell. Prose or poetry, it’s up to you. So come along to our creative writing group and tell your story.
Mondays 10.30am-12pm


Art and Craft

If you’re interested in art and want to be creative in an informal setting, then come along to our art group.
Tuesdays & Fridays 9.30am-11.30am

 

Whether you’re looking for physical or mental wellbeing (or both!), you will find something to suit you here. All levels and abilities welcome.

 


Gardening

Get involved in the U1R garden. Planting, growing and harvesting in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Tuesdays 12pm-1pm


Boxercise

Put on the gloves, have fun, get fit and build confidence in a safe, non-aggressive class.
Tuesdays 12.30pm-1.30pm


Qigong

Gentle movement, following your breath to relax your body, release tension and relax your mind.
Wednesdays 9.30am-10.30am


Mindfulness

Discover what meditation means to you and how it can assist to nourish and nurture your wellbeing and promote your own natural healing.

Healing

Norwich Healing Centre invites you to experience Healing at our regular Friday sessions at Under 1 Roof.
Fortnightly on Fridays, 30 minute sessions 10.15am-12.15pm (B)


Yoga

Improve fitness and flexibility as well as relaxation and wellbeing.

Singing Group

Come and join in as we sing together, no experience necessary.
